Liz is a qualified Interior Designer with over 12 years’ experience leading the interior design of many Healthcare, fit-out schemes and large scale high-end residential schemes.
She particularly enjoys working alongside architects, landscape designers and clinical planners during the early concept design and briefing stage and is passionate about linking inside spaces with the outside world and the natural environment.
Liz’s overall healthcare project experience ranges from small clinic refurbishments to large scale community hospitals, specialist children’s hospitals and acute mental health facilities and care homes. She also has a strong understanding of colour theory and accessibility issues.
Liz is well versed at leading workshops with both contractors and user groups and particularly enjoys seeing a design through from concept to completion.
Liz started her career as an interior designer at The Design Buro (Coventry) Ltd, leading the interior design strategies of many of the projects within the office. Whilst working closely with both the building users and contractor teams she quickly developed an understanding of the Design and Build process.
After 3 years, she moved on to work in London and has worked with several renowned healthcare architect’s on a mix of small and large scale schemes. Whilst working on Children’s hospitals and Cancer Centres, she developed a desire to create empathetic interiors, focusing on the patient experience and worked hard to ensure she was involved in schemes from early concept stages, leading both the wayfinding and arts strategies on several large hospitals, notably Great Ormond Street Hospital and The Christie Cancer Centre, Salford.
In 2011, Liz moved on to work at Sheppard Robson where she ventured into the commercial world of interior design and developed strong detailing skills; producing all construction drawings, specifications and leading co-ordination meetings with contractors and engineers.
In her final year at the firm, Liz assisted the architectural delivery team in developing Revit standard ways of working and package management and producing a construction detail library.
Before joining Cowans this year, Liz most recently assisted MCM Architects with their Revit templates and standard ways of working, developing drawing standards and templates.
