About This Project

Highbridge Wharf was completed for Berkeley Homes on the Greenwich riverfront adjacent to the Former Royal Naval College.

This restricted and challenging site provided six 4-bedroom riverside houses and five riverside-walk dwellings, over secure parking and a courtyard unit.  The redevelopment was built in conjunction with new clubhouse and premises for the Globe and Curlew rowing clubs.  Environmental improvement works were also carried out for residents of the Ernest Dense Estate which included a children’s playground, ball court, landscape and parking provision.

The Practice drew inspiration from the setting and the traditional pattern of riverside development.  Traditional materials were used in a contemporary way to evoke the maritime setting.  Glass cantilevered bays over-sail the Thames to provide views of the Millennium Dome and historic Greenwich.  The construction period was 10 months with a contract value of £1.9 million.
