Barratt Homes and the Architects Journal (AJ) hosted the ‘Homes for the Future‘ contest which asked UK architects, architectural designers and design firms to consider what homeowners would want in 5 to 10 years’ time. The task was then to design innovative housing for different types of user groups which would appeal to the mass market.
The set of proposals we entered focused on user needs for the now and future, allowing adaptability and flexibility to meet the needs of changing requirements over time.
With a focus on accessibility and future-proofing to account for change in circumstances our designs highlighted some key areas in which modern housing could be improved which we look forward to implementing into our future schemes and designs.
