Little Millbrook, Sussex

Our client transformed Little Millbrook, a 19th-century home in Ashdown Forest, Sussex, into an energy-efficient family dwelling. Demolition of the original dwelling was considered optimum due to its poor condition and new low-energy over Passivhaus approach was agreed in order to overcome orientation constraints and preserve forest views.

We received planning permission in 2019 for a new 3-bedroom home, including a new wing. MBC Timberframe UK Ltd handled the airtight, highly insulated envelope. U-values achieved: 0.11W/m2k for walls, 0.10W/m2k for the roof, and 0.105W/m2k for the foundation/slab. ASHP and MVHR units were installed in order to address renewable and recoverable energy requirements for the building.
