Lower Road, Great Bookham

Cowan Architects designed and secured planning permission for the demolition of an existing 4 bed bungalow and replacement with new 4 bed & 3 bed semi-detached properties.

The scheme was designed to replicate the predominant street scape of Lower Road, with a pair of contemporary detailed semi-detached dwellings and which were proportional to the adjacent houses in respect of scale and location between the boundary lines of the available plot.

The pair of dwellings are set back behind the proposed car parking, following a similar line to the front elevation of the existing bungalow, ensuring that they can retain a similar presence of the development looking onto the main road.

The proposed footprint includes a setback between the attached properties that helps to reduce the mass of the proposed elevation but also reflect the architectural language of the surrounding built environment.
