About This Project

RHN Catering & Restaurant Project

The practice was commissioned to design the new catering and restaurant facilities at the RHN as part of their ongoing project to enhance the resident and visitor experience. The aim of the project was to bring the main social hub of the hospital into a more central location. Where the previous restaurant had been located in one of the newer wings, this project bought it back into some of the former principal function rooms, namely the Andrew Day Room and the Morris Room.

Working closely with the client we reached a design that bought a new lease of life to the an area of the hospital that had become underused and undervalued. The design ethos was one of respecting and enhancing the historic importance of the rooms whilst at the same time creating a lively an vibrant place for residents, staff and visitors to enjoy.

We were delighted to be awarded a Commendation in the Wandsworth Design Awards in recognition of the contribution of design to the borough.
