Cladding Remediation
Cladding remediation projects involve working alongside building owners, project managers and fire engineers to identify existing cladding systems that present a fire risk. We then design and specify Approved Document compliant replacement cladding solutions.
Cowan Architects collaborates with Private and Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) on the remediation of High-Risk Buildings (HRBs) that are identified as having combustible cladding and latent fire compliance defects.
We make your buildings safer, compliant and where opportunity arises, promote retrofit solutions to improve their thermal comfort and therefore the social wellbeing of occupants. Our aim is to improve existing UK building stock to drive decarbonisation, reduce energy consumption and reliance and support future Net Zero targets.
Cladding Remediation Solutions
Following the latest Building Safety Act 2022 legislative introductions, we now work with the Building Safety Regulator to ensure compliance and a high standard of safety. Building safe buildings and getting it right first time are core DnA principles at Cowan Architects and our cladding remediation standards go far beyond compliance to ensure the comfort and safety of occupants.
Cladding Remediation Standards
BS EN13501-1 and PAS 9980 are crucial standards in the UK’s cladding remediation and fire safety regulations, with the former categorising construction materials based on fire performance, and the latter specifically addressing external wall systems’ fire performance assessment and classification, providing essential guidance to ensure compliance and safety.
