Conservation of St Nicholas Church, Worth, wins Cowan Architects a Sussex Heritage Award
Cowan Architects has won the prestigious 2022 Sussex Heritage Trust Award in the Ecclesiastical category for its work on St Nicholas Church in Worth.
This magnificent Grade 1 listed building has been used as a church building continuously for over 1000 years. It needed external, high-level repairs to stabilise the built fabric of the church building and prevent water damage. Repairs included re-shingling the spire, re-pointing and repairs to the stonework of the tower, repairs and re-guilding of the weathercock, localised tile repairs and replacement of portions of the rainwater goods following theft.
