Ben’s career began in Sydney, where he gained experience in a diverse range of projects including commercial, residential, and also government-related developments during the city’s Olympic boom. Upon returning to the UK, he transitioned predominantly into the residential sector, working on a variety of projects from small-scale homes to large apartment complexes. He also worked on the adaptation and refurbishment of schools and residential care homes to bring them up to the standards required of the disability discrimination and later equality acts.

Ben’s primary focus is residential sector projects ranging from small-scale works and private dwellings to apartment blocks. He has taken on a dual role as a traditional architectural technician/project lead for architectural firms as well as a technical design manager within developer and construction management offices.

Ben has been involved in several notable projects, such as the commercial refurbishment of the Old Stock Exchange in Bank as a senior architectural technician, and Luna Apartments in Brentwood, a residential new build where he served as the Lead Architectural Technician.

Ben is inspired by the architects of the Californian case study houses and the self-build ethos of Walter Segal, whose employment of standard material units and simplified construction techniques later evolved into an interest in other modular and built off-site construction methods (MMC).
