Consultant

Having been Managing Director of Cowan Architects for over 10 years, Phill retired in spring 2024 but remains involved as a consultant to provide continuity on projects and ensure a seemless handover.

Phill has over 30 years’ experience in the Construction industry. Starting as a Graduate Management Trainee with John Laing, his career progressed from Engineer through to Project Management with other leading organisations such as John Sisk and Bovis. Prior to joining Cowan Architects, Phill had already enjoyed a close working relationship with Cowan’s through the design and build of several healthcare and residential projects whilst Managing Director of a local regional contractor.

His background offers him an alternative perspective that architect-led projects sometimes lack as he can offer an understanding of both worlds, translating the pragmatic needs of the client into the visionary designs of the architect.

Phillip enjoys golf, sailing and gardening and has a keen interest in all things sociable.
