Chartered Architectural Technologist

Tobbs Blose is a Chartered Architectural Technologist currently working at Cowan Architects, where he contributes to the design and technical delivery of projects. With a solid background in architectural design, technical detailing, and project coordination, he brings over a 14 year of professional experience to his role, including seven years as the director of his own architectural practice. His career reflects a strong blend of design sensitivity, technical expertise, and hands-on construction knowledge, all underpinned by a passion for delivering high-quality, practical, and sustainable built environments.

Before joining Cowan Architects, Tobbs successfully ran his own architectural practice, where he led numerous residential and small commercial projects from inception to completion. During this time, he managed all aspects of the architectural process — from feasibility studies, planning applications, and building regulation compliance to on-site project management and client liaison. Running his own practice allowed him to develop a strong business acumen, an appreciation for client care, and an ability to balance design aspirations with cost and programme realities.

Over the years, Tobbs has gained substantial experience in both new-build and refurbishment projects, including residential developments, and mixed-use schemes. He has developed a detailed understanding of UK Building Regulations, planning policy, and construction methodologies, enabling him to coordinate effectively with engineers, contractors, and local authorities. His ability to bridge the gap between design intent and on-site execution has made him a valued team member in every project he has been involved with.

Now at Cowan Architects, Tobbs is part of a multidisciplinary team where he continues to apply his design and technical expertise to a diverse range of projects. His role includes preparing detailed design packages, coordinating with consultants, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting project delivery from RIBA Stage 3 through to completion. He is particularly interested in projects that combine social value, sustainability, and technical innovation, areas where his experience and personal values align closely with Cowan Architects’ ethos.
